four general education lenses: history, humanities, natural and applied sciences, and social sciences. 

A. Introduction: In this section of your portfolio, you will describe your artifact and explain how it relates to popular culture.
i. Explain why your artifact is a piece of popular culture? Describe what it is about your artifact that tells you it is a product of popular

culture’s mediation. Using the four lenses, explain how your artifact has or has not influenced modern society

  1. Lens Analysis: In this section of your portfolio, you will analyze your popular culture artifact through each of the four general education lenses.
    1. Analyze your artifact through the lens of history for determining its impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence from theory and research to support your analysis.
    2. Analyze your artifact through the lens of humanities for determining its impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence from theory and research to support your analysis.
    3. Analyze your artifact through the lens of the natural and applied sciences for determining impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence from theory and research to support your analysis.
    4. Analyze your artifact through the lens of the social sciences for determining impact on various institutions. Utilize evidence from theory and research to support your analysis.
  2. Conclusion: In this section of your portfolio, you will explore what is gained by studying popular culture and analyzing your artifact through each of the four general education lenses.
    1. Explain how integrating the four lenses helps people to understand how popular culture artifacts impact others in both professional and personal contexts.
    2. Analyze how social practices have been shaped by popular culture artifacts in modern culture. Using relevant research or diverse perspectives, assess the benefits and challenges of analyzing popular culture artifacts.
    3. Explain how analyzing popular culture can help in your interactions with those with different viewpoints, cultures, and perspectives.

Altogether, this portfolio should be 6 to 8 pages in length (plus a cover page and references) and written in APA format. Within your portfolio, each analysis should be 3 to 5 paragraphs long. Use double spacing, 12-point Times New Roman font, and one-inch margins. Include at least two relevant resources per lens cited in APA format. Submit your portfolio in a single Word document.
