The biggest issue writer’s organization in addressing a solution to evidence-based nursing practice is nurse shortage. The nurse turnover rate is higher in this organization than in any other neighborhood hospital. The department of education is providing classes for all employees promptly however the employees are quitting the job sometimes even after the orientation itself. So the nurse shortage is preventing the organization from implementing evidence-based practice appropriately. The staff reporting that the main reason for the staff turnover is poor management in the nursing department. Nurses are not allowed to refuse mandated duties and call out more than 3times in a duty schedule. If they do it they may be terminated from the service. Because of the nurse shortage, many nurses are doing 16 hours continuously two or three times per week and when they get tired they refuse the next duty or call out. The solution to this issue is to be started dro the management level. I believe if the managers address the issue of nurse shortage by different approaches, for example, approve voluntary overtime for the contract employees and support the staff with positive encouragement, more nurses maybe stay longer in this organization. Strong nursing leadership is needed to create practice environments and work climates that are healthier and safer for both nurses and patients (Duquesne University, 2020).
